Adopt These Dogs of the Day: A six-year-old Great Dane named Lily, who lost her eyes at 18 months to an illness, is looking for a new home — and so is her guide dog Maddison.
The Dogs Trust Shrewsbury in Roden received the pups in July from owners who claimed they could no longer care for them. Sadly, the trust has been unable to rehome the dogs, mostly due to Lily’s condition and the fact that she comes with an inseparable companion.
“It’s very sad as members of the public walk straight by their kennel,” said the trust’s manager, Louise Campbell. “Lily does all the things normal dogs do and, if you saw her from a distance, you wouldn’t even realise she was blind.”
Those interested in adopting the pair are invited to contact the trust, or visit their website.

“The word health has been hijacked by the medical/sickness industry. But it really means the way you live your everyday life through your relationships with friends, family, your neighborhood, your movement, your food, your experiences, your work, and your finances. Health isn’t a goal, it’s a tool to live your life the way you want. Sometimes being fit isn’t the tool you want to use, but having a lovely marriage is. Is the unfit person with a lovely marriage less healthy than a fit person with a horrible relationship with their spouse? Health is obviously complex but it’s more about sociology and anthropology than pills and scalpels.”
